MIG reports, written by a physician
A MIG report is a physician's clinical opinion on whether a patient's injuries fit within Ontario's Minor Injury Guideline, based on a full review of their records and a virtual consultation.
What is the Minor Injury Guideline?
The Minor Injury Guideline (MIG) sets a treatment framework under Ontario's accident benefits for injuries such as sprains, strains and whiplash. Some patients have injuries, conditions or complications that need care outside that framework. A MIG report sets out the clinical picture so those decisions rest on complete medical information.
What our physician reviews
- All available clinical notes and records, including hospital, imaging and prior treating records
- The patient's history: the accident, symptoms, care to date and pre-existing conditions
- A virtual consultation covering current symptoms, function and daily impact
- Where symptoms suggest a psychological component, we document them and refer for specialist care
What you receive
A written MIG report setting out the history, records reviewed, consultation findings and the physician's clinical opinion, with recommendations for care.
How long does it take?
The consultation is typically within one week of referral. The report follows the consultation.
Can the patient keep seeing you afterward?
Yes. Because we're a treating practice, the patient can continue with follow-up visits, referrals and forms.
